April 2012
April is Environmental Month for GUUF Youth!
This month our classes, Youth Group and Youth led services will focus on our appreciation
for our wonderful earth, especially during this season of Spring.
Easter service on April 8 will provide a final opportunity for work on the Peace Quilt which
has a focus on the interdependent web of existence. 1st to 6th graders encouraged to come
design their parts of this exciting quilt. An Easter Egg hunt for ages 0 to 15 will follow our
Easter service.
April 15 and 22 classes for 1st to 6th graders will be held outdoors as much as weather
allows, and we'll get to know some of the things happening in our GUUF garden beds, and plant
early starts for the community garden.
April 29 is our annual Youth led service. Join the kids for their perspectives on why our
Earth matters. This will be led predominantly by our Middle School Youth Group with the
assistance of Brett and Laura Holmquist.
Youth Group this month features guests Roger Sullivan, from MEIC on April 11 and John
Larson, from Montana Wilderness Association on April 25. Both these are at GUUF from 6 to 8
PM.
Finally, mark your calendars for our May organizational workshop! On Sunday May 6 at
GUUF, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM we will plan ahead for summer, and especially next Fall's teaching
teams and topics. Dinner will be included, but please RSVP.
RE committee will undergo a transition of leadership this summer as Kathy Neff steps down
from the role of chairperson, and we're looking for new teachers, helpers, ideas, and of course a
new chairperson or two. This workshop will be a great opportunity to see if you might want to
help in this wonderful aspect of our Fellowship, the new generation of children and youth.
Kathy Neff, RE Chair.
